Nocturnal Planning

I have so many ideas for Matjies flitting around in my head that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them all. I wake up in the middle of the night and they fill the room, their dusty little wings brushing my face and the curtains. I’m scared to light the candle next to my bed in case they disappear in the flame. I sit up in the dark and try to catch them gently, my fingers moving through the cold air like small bands of somnambulists. In the morning my sheet and pillows are covered in scribbled notes and strange words and ink stains.

self-imposed musical challenge

I have decided that this year for Matjies, I am going to either relearn an instrument that I played as a child (the violin) or a new instrument that I have always loved the idea of playing (the banjo). Either way, I will do a short performance, perhaps joined by a friend for backup and it will probably be slightly scary for me! But I do like a challenge. : )

Guerrilla's in the midst
