 your emails might take a little while to be answered, your food might take a little long to arrive, the food might not be totally gourmet ( in fact it def wont be).. but roll with it..
 make Show 'n Tell yours, pack your humor , pack your great great great grandmothers patience, help set up contributions if you see other maatjies needing help, respect the antiques they are real, dont smoke inside the hotel, and have fun

In the middle is - MAGGIE ! Maggie has been working at the Lord Milner Hotel her whole life! Ask her anything, about the ghosts, your soup, her memories, the hotel secrets
on the right is - Gert. Gert Gert he is our man if he cant do it no one can! Gert was also born in the village and has been friends with Ben ( who works in the bar) since they were real small.

There are whole lots of other amazing souls in Matjies just waiting to meet and treat you!

and of course you will be making lots of hearts very happy with tips (that includes tipping the mystery man) - best way to do this is to give it directly to who ever is serving you your meal.. or make note of the name and tell reception who the tips are for..

Blast off!

Hold on to your seats! The countdown has begun. There are only 2 months, 22 days, 19 hours and 37 seconds till blast off.

In between blowing our vuvuzelas, the Matjies Massive has rolled up it's sleeves and got stuck into putting together a kick-ass program from YOUR fantastic contributions and ideas that are coming in. Don't stop, asseblief. And if you haven't yet dropped us a mail, use half-time between all that laduuuuma action to make contact. This year is a looooong weekend and it really helps us if we know what you're cooking up for the 5th, yes folks, the 5th Matjiesfontein Show 'n Tell.

My Matjiesfontein

I am SOOOO excited for this years Matjiesfontein Show N Tell, that I even made a little video from the pictures and video that I collected from last year.
I'm even MORE excited because my birthday is on the 4th, so I'll try and do something birthday orientated for my contribution...something sweet!

My first Matjies

what was special about Matjies? hmmm, so much really that can be said in three words: people, place and showntell. There was so much to absorb... Jewels and Clinton put some hard work into creating picture. The space olympics got us all excited. The musical sounds of Andy, Buckfever Underground and were just incredible.

the haphazard
the spontaneity
the well thought out and articulately planned
the way every one was just at home and stoked
the sunshine on the grass
the finer detail of poems and origami cranes
the ice ice cold swim in the river
all of the above and more...

a gem of a weekend.
cant wait for next year and the next year and the year after that.
