Matjies,

How sad to be separated from my playmates for another year. Alas, alak, the letter of the law calls for absolute duty.

Our warmest thoughts and robust love are with the Merret family during this painful time. And too, we remember the inimitable David Rawdon - impresario extraordinaire.

I do hope that the fine organisers of this festival of revelry will continue their commendable work, blowing the pututu and summoning the folk to gambol on the grass and participate in play because;

“Play is older than culture, for culture, however inadequately defined, always presupposes human society, and animals have not waited for man to teach them their playing.”

With love,
Amilcar
